I was born with severe asthma and as a child spent many fall and winter days in hospital. When my asthma finally became manageable in my late teens I threw myself into learning about exercise and nutrition. But it took me years to find out what diet, exercise and healthy habits worked for me.
I'm not in perfect shape, whatever that is, nor do I eat all the "right" foods, all the time. I know what it's like to be out-of-shape, to feel weak, to feel like you will never be able to jump around or run like the athletes we see on TV and in magazines. But achieving good health can and does happen: one step at a time.
As a human, and as a coach, I believe in moderation. While I appreciate the extreme folks in the world who challenge our opinions and perspectives, I tend to see both sides of most arguments. You won't find me working out for long, intense periods or eating a radical diet. I've found that the key to lifelong health is to take manageable and healthy steps: today, tomorrow, and for the rest of your life.
When I work with clients, I take the time to understand their lifestyles, their preferences, and their challenges to come up with a plan that is easy and enjoyable to follow. Together we will focus on positive incremental changes, we will plan rewards for when you meet each of your goals, and we won't dwell on slip-ups. And we will build in cheat days, rest days and days for celebration.
I'll be there to encourage you to do your best, to cheer you on, but also to remind you to give yourself grace because we are not superhumans, just regular people trying to improve ourselves. Let's talk!
